About Lissa Pohl

Lissa against barn background #5-Lissa Pohl holds a Masters Degree in Transformational Leadership Development from The Union Institute & University. Since 2008 she has worked d in the University of Kentucky’s Department of Community & Leadership Development where she was Assistant Director of the Center for Leadership Development. In this role Lissa designed two leadership certificate programs for undergraduate students in the College of Agriculture and facilitated leadership development workshop for  organizations including Johnson & Johnson, University of Kentucky, as well as various statewide professional associations. In 2012 she conducted pioneering research in the field of Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) on the effectiveness of collaborating with horses in developing, emotional intelligence and leadership competencies in expert nurses.

Lissa’s private consulting business is In Good Spirits, LLC where she works with clients across the United States and most recently in the Middle East with the Qatar Foundation and HEC Paris in Doha, Qatar.

Prior to that she worked in leadership development in the restaurant industry and as an independent organizational consultant with non-profit and small businesses in the Bluegrass area.

She is certified as a Lights On Leadership ™ Coach, a Leadership Circle (360) Profile Facilitator, as well as an Equine Experiential Education Association Advanced Corporate Trainer and Master Trainer, and has been Vice President of the Equine Experiential Education Association (E3A) since 2012.

Lissa has over 50 years of experience with horses. She grew up riding ponies and horses with 4-H and showed in hunting, jumping and dressage. She has been a volunteer at Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and Central Kentucky Riding for Hope. She continues to enjoy riding, integrated horsemanship and horse care.

Lissa hails from Boulder, Colorado and Seattle, Washington and moved to Lexington, KY with her husband and two daughters in 1999 and enjoys a great Chai Latte!
